about

“two” is the second album of By The Waterhole, the solo project of Norway-based singer and composer Eva Pfitzenmaier. On this new release she elaborates her unique take on loop-based music: here improvisation, squeaky jazzpop and old-fashioned blues meet for a ride on a swaying camel's back.

With a distinctive blend of association-filled poetry, rumbling bass and blossoming melodies By The Waterhole creates soundscapes that manage to engage the heart, the body and the brain.
Hypnotising beats and insisting backing vocals create the base for catchy melodies and spoken-word texts that are conveyed to the listener in both a compelling and at times shamelessly direct way.

With stomp-box-like samples, rattling percussion, carefully hand-picked synth and piano sounds, Eva – originally from the German Blackforest – invites you into her own creaky and eclectic world, where a lampshade makes for a bass drum and the sound of improvised dance and crackling cones create a playful backdrop. No mellowing overproduction or unnecessary overdubs make “two” a one-to-one experience of what it's like to hear By The Waterhole live.
